Kit from IG @babywearingkit tested our DIDYKLICK 4U in Denim Blue
The DidyKlick has always been a well-designed, versatile carrier that combines the intuitive structure of Meh Dais with the moldability of woven wraps and the ease of a buckle waist. The newest edition, the DidyKlick 4U, features an ergonomic "U" shaped waistband. So what are the main differences between the original and 4U models?
The 4U waistband is made of a stiffer, denser foam that does not compress as much as the original. It is a smidge taller and thinner than the original too. The curve of the U shape does a few things: wherever you place it on your torso, it sits securely with very little effort. Whether you are wearing at the hips, waist, above the waist, or somewhere in between, it's a "taller" waistband that does not assume your torso is a perfect cylinder. Even if you have washboard abs, this is helpful because a waistband this tall needs to be able to be evenly tightened across the curves of the torso, be they the curves of your figure or due to the dynamic action of babywearing. While it may seem counterintuitive, the material and the U shape together make it easier to maintain the waistband at a level height on the wearer. -And a level waistband means less unnecessary strain on your back! The final, most important difference I noticed was this waistband is strong enough that I could place the weight of my older children directly on it. With a softer waistband, you learn to tighten the waistband to your body and think of the waistband holding the fabric panel to your body, while most of the child's weight is on the fabric panel. This version of the waistband is closer to what a new babywearer would expect the placement to be: the waistband is both holding the fabric panel and directly taking the weight of the child. Both styles are absolutely safe; it's just easier to get a comfortable fit when you know which one you are working with. Essentially, the redesign of the waistband naturally counteracts little mistakes that are easy to make when you're a beginner or rushed.
Of course, the rest of the features we love are still here too! The adjustable panel width, options for front, back, and hip carry, and the all important, high quality woven fabric for the panel and straps. Right out of the box, Denim Blue was buttery soft and ready for snuggles.
